| Per linear foot (HomeGuide; Angi avg $150/ft) | $50–$250 |
| Typical 40-ft replacement (HomeGuide) | $2,000–$10,000 · avg $6,000 |
| Angi typical range / average | $1,388–$5,323 · avg $3,319 |
| Pipe bursting (HomeGuide) | $60–$200 / ft |
| Pipe lining, CIPP (HomeGuide) | $90–$250 / ft |
| Partial repair (HomeGuide) | $150–$3,800 |
| Sewer permit, trenchless (Angi) | up to $1,000 |
Why quotes vary so much
- Length and depth of the line, from the house to the city connection.
- What's on top: driveways, mature trees, and hardscape raise excavation and restoration costs. Trenchless can cost more per foot but less overall.
- Street or sidewalk work and city permits.
- Pipe condition: lining can't fix a collapsed pipe or a sag, which may force excavation.

Pipe material matters
Older clay and cast iron lines fail in different ways, which affects which method is feasible.
Before you sign
